Blue Origin was the first to launch reusable rockets, but SpaceX was the first to do so.Rumor MillBlue Origin founder Jeff Bezos wants to conquer space.Amazon's plan is, however, essentially a copy of the competition.According to Ars Technica's new reporting, Blue Origins Project Jarvis was created out of Jeff Bezos desire for replicating key aspects SpaceXs Starship spacecraft. Ars claims that top staff warned Bezos not to try to replicate SpaceX's anarchic culture.Breeding InnovationArs initially set out to investigate a rumor that Blue Origin was overhauling its already-years-delayed New Glenn spacecraft so that the company could build it out of stainless steel rather than an aluminum alloy, which also would have been taking a page directly out of SpaceXs book. Although it was not true, Blue Origin may make some propellant tanks from stainless steel.AdvertisementAdvertisementArs discovered turmoil in Blue Origin due to Jeff Bezos obsession with SpaceX's success and his desire for it to be replicated. Blue Origin is said to be trying to save money by making the New Glenn's upper and second stages of its spacecraft reusable. This is similar to SpaceX's plans to be able land, dust off and reuse its Super Heavy booster. The Proof of ConceptAccording to Ars, Bezos was closely following the progress of SpaceX's Starship prototypes as they were tested and landed over the past year. He repeatedly asked his senior team members if it was possible for them to do the same, and they reportedly refused to answer.Ars points out that these staffers tried to discourage Bezos by arguing SpaceX's method of iterating through often-explosive testing wouldnt work with Blue Origin. Bezos responded by giving his second-stage development team their own sandbox and encouraging them to create and innovate the reusable system as fast as possible. We don't know if Jeff Bezos will be able to commit to the venture by trying to start an electric car company, he dating a pop star and he grows his hair.AdvertisementAdvertisementREAD MORE: Blue Origin's secret project Jarvis is designed to rival SpaceX [Ars Technica]Blue Origin: Bezos says NASA should give him billions of dollars if it will just give him a contractFuturism readers are invited to join the Singularity Global Community.
