Lucasfilm hires the YouTube deepfaker who put its Luke, Leia and Tarkin cameos to shame

Recently, I re-watched Rogue One : A Star Wars Story. The only problem was Lucasfilms attempt by Lucasfilms to bring Peter Cushings Grand Mofftarkin and Princess Leia of Carrie Fisher back to the big screen with CGI. This was the one thing that bothered me the least the first time I saw it.Lucasfilms Industrial Light and Magic now has the potential to make these movies more future-proof. It hired a YouTuber who is a specialist in deepfaking Star Wars and big-budget movies and showing off their CGI de-aging techniques. Shamook was the one who made Luke Skywalker's appearance in The Mandalorian look great. He also improved Rogue Ones Tarkin.Although Peter Cushing looked thin in the role of Captain America, he is no longer as thin.IndieWire reports that Lucasfilm hired Shamook to do the job they love, instead of ordering YouTube to remove the content. According to IndieWire, [Industrial Light and Magic] is always looking for talented artists and has in fact hired Shamook (via CNET). ILM has invested in machine learning and A.I. over the past few years. It is a way to create compelling visual effects work. It has been amazing to see the momentum build in this area as technology advances.Shamook, in the YouTube comments for a recent video, stated that their new title was Senior Facial Capture artist.Shamooks results may not always be better than the originals. Shamooks have that uncanny mask-like quality that is still prevalent to a lot deepfakes today. They also don't have the benefit from all the additional CG lighting that Disney has added to their films and shows. They might be able to reach new heights by combining their ideas.Shamook is also known for his penchant to swap stars. He famously inserted Harrison Ford into Solo, A Star Wars Story.
