Bermuda and the Philippines Have Won Their First Olympic Gold Medals'Ever

It was an historic day in Bermuda's 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Flora Duffy took home the first ever gold medal for women's triathlon.Duffy, a two-time world champion in triathlonswimming and cycling, won the overall win. She also beat Georgia Taylor-Brown of Great Britain, who took home silver and Katie Zaferes, a bronze medalist from Team USA. Duffy finished the race in 1:55:36, despite the difficult weather conditions. Duffy's victory was also the country's second ever Olympic medal. Clarence Hill won the 1976 medal.Duffy's historic win was achieved in the wake of Hidilyn Diaz, Philippines, winning the first ever gold medal in the 55-kilogram category in womens weightlifting. Diaz set an Olympic record in a tight battle, lifting a combined weight of 224 kilograms over two successful attempts.I made a lot of sacrifices. According to Diaz, I was unable to spend time with my father and mother for many months or years. Then, there was the training, which was exhausting, Diaz stated.
