No new Galaxy Note this year as Samsung's foldables gain S Pen functionality ' TechCrunch

Last week, Samsung sent invites to its August 11 Unpacked event. It is clear that this event will be packed, which may be ironic considering the company's standards. However, it could be just as memorable for what it does not include. A slew rumors suggest that Samsung may not update its annual Galaxy Note.TM Roh, the company's president and chief of Mobile Communications Business writes in a blog today that instead of revealing a new Galaxy Note, they will continue to expand beloved Note features on more Samsung Galaxy devices. This is a big deal for Samsung's beloved, if occasionally erratic phablet. This year, no Note? This year? This is the best year?TechCrunch was provided with the following clarification by Samsung: We won't be launching any new Galaxy Note devices in 2021. Samsung intends to enhance the Note experience and extend the Galaxy ecosystem with many of its most popular productivity and creativity features such as the S Pen. Once we have more information, we will share it with you.Early rumors suggested that the absence of a new Note was due to supply chain issues that have persisted for much of 2020-2021. Many speculate that the company might finally end the Galaxy Note series, just a few days before its 10th anniversary. It is possible that the original phablet may have outlived its usefulness, particularly as new Samsung flagships grow in size and take advantage of its most important features. It is clear that the Galaxy S21-like features, including S-Pen functionality, will be carried over to some of the new devices. This means that at least one Galaxy Z Fold is likely, which confirms earlier rumors about the Galaxy Z Fold being the latest Galaxy device to blur distinction between the Note and it. This could also mean a reinforced display. Recent leaks suggest that the Folds will be carrying a case with a pen-holster rather than baking the slot into its already complex design.Roh wrote that he hopes you will join us in presenting our next Galaxy Z family. He also shared some foldable surprises, including the first ever S Pen specifically designed for folding phones. Roh also confirmed the arrival of the Z Fold, as well as a more refined design, with a Galaxy Z Flip equipped with a stronger, more durable material. The news was rounded out by a mention to the One UI Watch, which appears to confirm that the new Galaxy Watch will also be making a guest appearance at the Unpacked.
