HMD Global's newest Nokia device, the XR20 is a rugged phone with 5G connectivity. It goes on sale in August for $549. The XR20 offers robust physical protection and is supported well on the software side. This has been a major focus of Nokia's new devices. It ships with Android 11 and includes three years of OS updates along with four years of security updates. Even though Android 12 is the next update, it's a policy far more robust than most midrange Android devices. The XR20 boasts many rugged features. It is IP68-rated and can be submerged in water up to 4.9 feet (1.25 meters) for up to one hour. Other requirements of MIL-STD-810H include the ability to withstand temperatures up to 131 F (55 C), -7.6 F(-22 C) and protection from drops up to 5.9 F (1.8 M). Nokia claims that its screen is made of Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone also comes with a 2-year extended warranty in America (three-years in the UK).The Nokia XR20 is ruggedly built and shares many features with the non-rugged X20. This includes its 6.67-inch 1080p display. The XR20's depth and macro sensors are absent. Instead, it has only two rear-facing cameras: a 48 megapixel f/1.79 main camera and a 13. megapixel f/2.4 superwide. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 480 processor and 6GB RAM, 128GB storage. We found this combination to be sufficient despite occasional hiccups with the X20. It supports Qi wireless charging and a 4,630mAh battery. It is not equipped to compete with the best midrange phones, such as the Samsung A52 5G and the Pixel 4A 5G. This aligns with Nokia's recent focus on value-driven devices. We weren't impressed by the X20s camera, and we don't believe the Snapdragon 480 chipset will provide the best-in-class performance. However, the XR20 may fill a need for a mainstream rugged device that is affordable and has good software support.Only the 6GB RAM/128GB storage version will be available in the US. It will go on sale August 24th. This version will be sold for 449 in the UK. A 4GB RAM/64GB storage option will also available for 399. Both versions will be available in the UK starting July 27th.Nokia C30, Nokia 6310 and Clarity Earbuds PROHMD also announced two other devices that will be available worldwide: the Nokia C30, and Nokia 6310. The Nokia C30 is a large-screen, big battery affair. It has a 6.82-inch screen, which Nokia claims is the largest Nokia panel to date, and a 6,000mAh lithium-ion battery. In the UK, a version with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage will be available for 99.Clarity Earbuds Pro have active noise cancellation and are IPX5 sweat- and water-resistant. They can last up to nine hours on a single charge (7 with ANC enabled). You can use the included case for an additional 36 hours without ANC, or 28 hours with it enabled. The UK will sell them for 99 Pounds. The Nokia 6310, a 2G phone, is accessible. It has larger buttons, fonts and can be read aloud. The Nokia 6310 will be available in the UK starting August for 49 Pounds.
