iOS 14.7.1 and macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 Patch Security Vulnerability That May Have Been Actively Exploited

Apple released today unexpected iOS 14.7.1, iPadOS 14.7.1 updates. According to a recently released support document, this software addresses a serious vulnerability that could have been exploited in nature.Apple claims that an application could have been able execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges because of a memory corruption issue. The document states that Apple is aware of a report suggesting that the issue could have been exploited.This vulnerability has been fixed with better memory handling. All iPhone and iPad users are advised to update to iOS 14.7.1 or iPadOS 14.7.1 immediately. This vulnerability was also addressed in macOS Big Sur 11.5.1.iOS 14.7.1 also fixes a bug that prevented Touch ID iPhones unlocking an Apple Watch.
