Deadline reports that Sean Penn is having trouble with people who haven't had a COVID-19 vaccination. This includes people who interact with him and work on projects he's involved with. He stated that he would not allow Starz to resume production of the limited Starz series Gaslit until all those involved have been vaccinated. This he was happy to do (freely) through his charitable relief organization CORE.AdvertisementNBCUuniversal, which is the studio behind Gaslit has apparently agreed to this demand. They have already made mandatory vaccinations available for all cast members and anyone who deals directly with them. However, Penn doesn't like the idea that people who are vaccinated may still be able to work with others who might not be vaccinated. Even vaccinated individuals could still transmit the virus. Deadline reports that this is the first time anyone at the level of Sean Penn has requested this. It would likely require agreements between the studios and unions involved. Otherwise, Universal would not legally be permitted to make everyone get vaccinated. This would presumably set the precedent for other productions.Gaslit will be delayed if Penn insists on it now when he has only a few weeks to finish filming. The show, created by Sam Esmail, Robbie Pickering, and inspired by Slates Slow Burn podcast is about Watergate and will feature Penn as Richard Nixons Attorney-General John Mitchell. Julia Roberts will also be starring as Mitchell's wife.
