It seems like a lifetime has passed since the Doctor defeated the Dalek invasion on Earth (again) in New Years Day. But, thank Gallifreyerr for what little is left, because Doctor Who is now ready to share its next adventures.AdvertisementThe trailer was revealed at the BBCs Doctor Who panel at San Diego Comic-Con @Home. It was attended by Jodie Whittaker, the Doctor, and her companions, Mandip Gill (who plays returning hero Yaz), and John Bishop (the mysterious, new Dan) as the Doctor and Yaz say goodbye to Graham and Ryan. There are also enemies to be fought. There are many enemies. The more Doctor Who changes, the more Doctor Who remains the same. Yaz, Dan, and Doctor Who travel through time and space with... less graceful manners. There will be corridors to run down or fall down! There will be threats from the past, present and future! The Doctor has much to be concerned about, even though the Master revealed her secrets connections to the foundation of Time Lord society at last season's end. Will she discover the truth about her past and all of the stars? We'll just have to watch and wait.First details about the next season were revealed at the panel. You can see the full video below. Season 13 will be a single story unlike previous seasons under Chris Chibnall. This is in contrast to the episodic stories that have been presented for the past season. Chibnall admitted that this was due in part to the covid-19 pandemic. It was previously reported that the pandemic had also reduced the season to eight episodes. There were times before we began making it that we worried we wouldn't be able to make the show in covid conditions this season. Chibnall stated that there were two options. There are two options. One, let's do a lot of small episodes in one place with no monsters. Two, we can go all out and tell the greatest story we have ever told. We'll be going to many different places and will have many characters and monsters. It all will all be part of a larger whole. This is the most ambitious thing that we have done in the series' history.Whittaker said that it was very emotional to return home, as we are the fortunate ones who can go to work. But, this also means that it feels so precious and fun because of all of the experiences we have. It's always possible to bring something you are going through into your character. It doesn't matter how difficult or large the emotional issues are, I am able to bring them into my Doctor. In addition to the appearance of Dan Bishop, Game of Thrones Jacob Anderson was revealed as a guest actor. He made an appearance to introduce Vinder, his new major character. Anderson, along with other unrevealed guests stars, will play an expanded role in multiple episodes of the new season. Anderson spoke of Vinder in a prerecorded message to the panel, saying that he is one of my favorite rite characters. It is my childhood dream to be part of Doctor Who. I am even more excited to meet Jodie and Chris who I have worked with before.AdvertisementDoctor Who will return for an eight-episode season 13 broadcast on BBC America and BBC America later in the year. Are you curious about where our RSS feed went.
