NHL Stanley Cup Final 2021: Updated Odds, Schedule for Canadiens vs. Lightning

Phelan Ebenhack/Associated PressMontreal Canadiens are on the verge of an unlikely comeback. They are one step closer to their goal than Monday but still have a lot of work ahead. The Stanley Cup Final was down to 3-0, and the Canadiens were facing elimination. However, they extended their season at least one game more by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime in Montreal on Monday's Game 4. The Habs will be the second NHL team to overcome a 3-0 deficit in Stanley Cup Final.Montreal has not lost this postseason in elimination situations, having won each of its four games. Things are about to get even more complicated with Wednesday's Game 5 to be played in Tampa. The Lightning have been unbeaten of late. Here's how the Stanley Cup Final stands heading into Game 5.Stanley Cup Final Results and ScheduleGame 1: Tampa Bay 5-1Game 2: Tampa Bay 3-1Game 3: Tampa Bay won the 6-3Game 4: Montreal 3-2 (OT).Game 5: Wednesday, 8 p.m. ET, NBCGame 6 (if needed): Friday, 8 p.m. ET, NBCGame 7 (if needed): Sunday, 7 p.m. ET, NBCThe Latest Stanley Cup OddsTampa Bay Lightning: -2000 (bet $2,000 for $100)Montreal Canadiens: +100 (bet $100 for $1,100)DraftKings SportsbookThe Lightning were never in trouble during the Stanley Cup Final's first three games. They cruised to three consecutive wins. They won the first two games at home where they won five straight and outscored their opponents 21-4.The Canadiens must win at Amalie Arena if they want to keep their season alive. It's going to not be easy.Montreal has now gained some momentum in the series with its win in Game 4. Although it didn't win the series in regulation, Tampa Bay's Pat Maroon scored a game-tying goal in the final minute. The Habs won overtime in quick succession.Josh Anderson's second goal in the game was scored at 3:57 after the extra period. This gave the Canadiens victory. This was just one win. They could have three more wins.According to John Wawrow, the Associated Press, Brendan Gallagher, Montreal's forward, said that he understood the situation but didn't really discuss it. "[Anderson] was able to score a few big goals for us. It will be the same next game."The next and possibly the next games. The Canadiens won't be facing their first playoffs adversity as they overcome a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Maple Leafs in round 1. Carey Price, the goaltender, just had his best game in the series. He made 32 saves and allowed two goals. The Lightning had performed better than expected in the highly anticipated goaltending matchup. Andrei Vasilevskiy has continued to have an outstanding postseason. However, Price can play better than he did in three of the previous games and in Game 4.It's possible that Price will get back on track if Montreal is able to provide enough offensive support. The Canadiens are the underdog in the postseason and it makes sense that they're trying for one last surprise. They were the team with the lowest regular-season points among the 16 teams that made it to the playoffs. After upsetting the Maple Leafs they defeated the Winnipeg Jets as well as the Vegas Golden Knights. This isn't a new position for the Lightning. They led the Dallas Stars 3-1 in last year's Stanley Cup Final. The Lightning lost Game 5 3-2 in double overtime. Tampa Bay immediately responded and won Game 6 with a 2-0 victory. The Lightning will be trying to win the Cup at home on Wednesday night, and stop the Canadiens establishing more momentum before it becomes a competitive series."Sometimes, you play quite well and it's a break here or there that doesn't go your way. "You just have to keep going through it," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper stated, per Wawrow. "No hanging on to our heads."They'll be celebrating if the Lightning win Game 5. They'd be the first team in Stanley Cup history to win again, as they would be the second time since the Pittsburgh Penguins won it in 2016 and 2017.You can reach crisis counseling and referral services by calling 1-800-GAMBLER (1 800 426 2537) (IL).Gambling problems?
