Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes to host USA Football coaching clinics

KANSAS CITY (Mo.) This summer, the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes will be partnering with USA Football to host three youth coaching clinics in Missouri. His 15 and the Mahomies Foundation have provided grants for 15 youth football leagues.Monday saw the announcement of the collaboration between USA Football and the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback.John Roderique, the Cardinals' long-time coach at Webb City High School, will be leading the clinics. Mike Bellars, the Rockwood Summit High school coach, will also be there. They are designed to help other coaches prepare to teach youth players based on their skill level, age and what type of football they play.Clinics are open to all youth football coaches and will be held in Olathe, Kansas, July 27. The second clinic will be held July 31 in Webb City, and the third Aug. 7 in Kansas City.The 15 and Mahomies Foundation announced $2,000 operating grants that will be distributed to 15 youth leagues in the region. These grants will be made available online through an application.Mahomes said that "smart coaching can have a lasting, positive impact on kids as well as their sports development." Mahomes has led the Chiefs in three consecutive AFC championship games and back-toback Super Bowl appearances. USA Football is a great partner for me to help coaches and youth athletes in the K.C. region.Brittany Matthews and Mahomes have made another investment in their adopted community. Matthews played professional soccer in Iceland and is now part-owner of the Kansas City franchise.The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation have donated hundreds of thousands to local causes. This includes the funding of Martin Luther King Jr. Park's renovation, just a few blocks from Arrowhead Stadium. The park will include an all-inclusive play area and opportunities to learn more about King's life.Scott Hallenbeck, chief executive of USA Football, stated that Patrick's dedication to children through the Mahomies Foundation and his 15 is extraordinary and rare. "We appreciate Patrick's friendship, love of the game and his ability to provide best-in-class coaching training and grants to support youth football programs in Greater Kansas City."Mahomes will report to training camp with the Chiefs' other quarterbacks as well as rookies and selected veterans July 23 at Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph. The rest of the team reports July 28. The first full-squad workout will be open to the public the next day, for the first time since 2019's preseason.The Chiefs will open their regular season against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 12.
