East-West Shrine Bowl to Be Held During 2022 NFL Pro Bowl Week; Raiders to Host

Julio Aguilar/Getty ImagesOn Tuesday, the East-West Shrine Game announced its partnership with NFL and will be played as part of Pro Bowl Week in Las Vegas this year.The Raiders' Allegiant Stadium will host the 2022 event on Thursday, February 3. The Shriners Hospitals for Children sponsors the Shrine Game. It has been in existence since 1925, but it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.After 85 years of being played mainly in California, the game was moved to Florida in 2010.The NFL could partner with college seniors to provide increased exposure for Shrine Game participants. These are teams of East and West-based college seniors.In recent seasons, it has been difficult to find top prospects for Shrine Game. The Senior Bowl takes precedence over college all-stars games. Steve Smith (2001), Jimmy Garoppolo (2014) were the most prominent offensive MVPs, while Za'Darius Smith was the defensive MVP in 2015.
