AP Photo/Jeff ChiuGersson Rosas, president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves, says that the team has had "a lot of" trade discussions with other teams before the offseason."We are having many conversations now. Rosas spoke Tuesday on KFAN FM 1000.3 (h/t Dane Moore from Blue Wire Podcasts). The Timberwolves were ranked No. 7, in the NBA lottery last month, and were unable to pick the Golden State Warriors for last year's D’Angelo Russell/Andrew Wiggins deal. They had the sixth best chance of winning the lottery.Although the Wolves lost the pick, it was not unexpected. Anthony Edwards was the No. 1 pick. Russell, a young player in the center, and Karl-Anthony Towns at the centre would have been able to help the franchise overcome its decade-and a half-decade-old slump (one playoff spot in 17 seasons). While Towns' future is in doubt, the Wolves need to improve their roster. His max contract has only three seasons left, but he could request a trade to a bigger market.Towns has only made it to the playoffs once (in 2017-18), and then watched the team collapse the next season due to Jimmy Butler's trade demands. The 25-year old is one of the best offensively-gifted big men in the sport, and will be eager to show his talents on the biggest stage.Rosas has to find a roster capable of helping Minnesota win the playoffs. Rosas faces a difficult task with the team's combined record of 42-94 the past two seasons.
