Norwegian Air intends to expand its network, despite reporting low demand in June due to Covid travel restrictions.Last month, the airline flew 15 aircraft carrying 225,509 passengers, a double increase on the same month last years.Norwegian Air underwent a financial restructuring in May after being forced to withdraw from long-haul low-cost routes in response to the pandemic that struck in 2020.According to the carrier, traffic for June was heavily affected by travel restrictions and low sales. As more markets open up and remove restrictions, forward bookings and demand continue their positive trend. As the airline focuses on Europe and its home market, the number of routes and aircraft will increase gradually in this month.Geir Karlsen, the new chief executive, stated that June traffic results continue to show the effects of low demand due both to government travel restrictions and reduced flight schedules. We have also seen an increase in bookings month-on-month as countries relax restrictions. We have therefore resumed flights to key European destinations. As demand increases, we will continue to adapt and expand our network and schedules.
