Operator Pura Aventura to 'carbon label' all trips

Pura Aventura, a specialist in sustainable holidays, is to carbon-label all its trips, including international flights.The company runs trips to Latin America and Spain, as well as Portugal.Thomas Power, chief executive and co-funder, stated: It is vital that we all measure and publish the carbon emissions from all holidays in order to understand the environmental impacts of our travels.This information allows consumers to demand that action be taken to empower them to make better decisions about their travels.Pura Aventura carbon balances operations in partnership in Nicaragua with a rural development program.This scheme provides local jobs, helps to reduce climate change and restores ecosystems that are already in decline.According to company calculations, international flights account for over 70% of trips' total carbon footprint.Since January 2019, Pura Aventura has been measuring the carbon emissions from all its operations, including client travel.This figure was calculated to be 1,476 tonnes by December 2020, despite a pandemic.It also invested in carbon mitigation through a Nicaraguan rural development/tropical restoration project, which was worth 2,835 tonnes.C-Level is a top carbon consultancy and a fellow B Corp organization that independently verifies and administers Pura Aventuras carbon actions.
