Click Travel taken over by tech-driven TravelPerk

TravelPerk, a global travel management platform, has acquired Click Travel UK.TravelPerks has acquired TravelPerks for an undisclosed amount. This is TravelPerks' third acquisition in twelve months. It is also the latest step in a ambitious post-Covid growth strategy.All 150 Click Travel employees based in Birmingham will join the tech-driven TravelPerk. This will make Birmingham a major new center for the company.Click Travel was established in 1999. It is the UK's fastest-growing corporate travel management company, handling 300 million business travel for 2,000 clients including Five Guys and Red Bull.The Baupost Group is a Boston-based investment management firm with approximately $31 billion of assets under management. TravelPerk received capital to finance the deal which also includes Click Travels technology base and customer base.TravelPerks' third largest acquisition is following the integration of risk management startup Albatross in 2011 and US business travel platform NexTravel (January).TravelPerk raised $160 million in series-D funding in May. This brings the total amount raised to date at $294 million.This funding will be used for TravelPerks global expansion and investment in new solutions for travel in a Covid or post-Covid world.TravelPerk recently announced a partnership with Skyscanner, which will allow the online travel agency to take travel restrictions information and use it in its interactive destination maps.Avi Meir, co-founder and chief executive of Click Travels (pictured), said: We are thrilled to welcome Click Travels amazing and talented team to TravelPerk in order to build long-term growth and significantly expand our team on the ground in the UK.Our strategy since March last year has been to invest heavily in our product offerings and in our global reach so that we could be ready for the recovery.
