Image courtesy of Cartoon NetworkCartoon Networks Craig's Creek kids have been teetering and building up to war over the last week as part of the third season Capture the Flag arc. Despite all warnings, Craig was unable to stop King Xaviers promises of candy in return for complete control over the Creek.AdvertisementCraig felt that his personal connection to the Creek and his friends was being threatened as the Creek's power balance changed under Xaviers draconian rule. Xavier even found a way for Craig to stay at home and get him grounded. Each Capture the Flag episode has shown Craig a different way to textually show how Xaviers takeover of the Creek causes a personal crisis. Craig's Creeks story has been enhanced by the arc's music. The new arrangement by series composer Jeff Rosenstock of Craig of the Creeks' ending theme is more laid back and low-key that the original. The original arrangement has a more contented and relaxed vibe, but the new arrangements are more foreboding. Rosenstock stated via email that this was his goal.Rosenstock stated that the terror of this arc feels real. Therefore, I wanted it to feel empty, as if the creek is sucking the soul out. To make it sound like an empty creek, I took out all vocals and then added some dark tones and a tense synth. It was quite scary to hear that some people were scared by it.Rosenstock explained that Capture the Flag episodes weren't the first time Craig made a unique ending theme for the series. He also mentioned how the sound of the series has evolved as characters like the 10 speedsthe local kid biker gangof trick cyclistsand teatimersthe wealthy kids of the Creek who have a passion to enjoy fancy afternoon teashave become part of the series.G/O Media could be eligible for a World of Warcraft 60 Day Time Card at Eneba. Rosenstock said that I try to use the freshness of the show to see where this mix of ingredients will lead me. I want to ride the waves, learn alongside the show, and keep improving my music so it doesn't all go wrong at the end. I also want to keep the punk and ska vocabulary that has been the heart of the show since the pilot, even if it hasn't traditionally lent itself to cinematic music. It adds an energy to the heavy moments. While Capture the Flag was an exciting experience for Rosenstock, Rosenstock pointed out that it was still a challenging creative process due to the many roadblocks artists face when trying to bring their ideas to life. Rosenstock stated that despite the difficulties, it is worth it to find the perfect sound.AdvertisementRosenstock said that this was not without frustration. He recalled how I used to beat myself up about not finding the right notes, arrangements, or tempos, failing to be able play something good enough and falling back, then getting up again. It's all part of the process. It's a quest for the right sounds, and it is super satisfying when everything feels unified. The first two seasons of Craig of the Creeks are available on HBO Max.Are you curious about where our RSS feed went.
