Big Jake, tallest horse in the world and a 'big jokester,' dies in Wisconsin

According to reports, Big Jake, the world's tallest horse died in Wisconsin.He was 6' 10" tall and weighed in at 2,500 pounds.His empty stall will be a permanent memorial.Check out more stories from Insider's business page.Multiple news outlets reported that Big Jake, the towering Belgian 20-year-old Belgian horse who was deemed the world's tallest horse, has died in Wisconsin.Jerry Gilbert, the Wisconsin farmer where Big Jake lived, said to WMTV that the horse had died a few weeks back.Gilbert said to the TV station, "The other horses understand." "I believe they have their own grieving times because Jake was the centre of attention around here."According to WMTV, Big Jake was rated the world's tallest living horse by The Guinness Book of World Records in 2010. He was 6'10 and three-quarters inches tall and weighed in at 2,500 pounds.Gilbert said that he weighed in at 240 pounds when he was born, and that he weighed about 100 more than the average Belgian foal.Gilbert stated that Big Jake loves to play with hair and make people look good in a 2012 YouTube video. He's a jokester. Gilbert shared that Big Jake loved belly rubs.He also consumed more than the average horse: a full bucket of grains twice daily and a bale each day of hay.Gilbert told WMTV that he plans to keep Big Jake out of his stall and put a brick outside his stall with his name and photograph.
