Wimbledon 2021: Tunisian Ons Jabeur beats seventh seed Iga Swiatek to reach quarter-finals

This was her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.Jabeur, 26 years old, is now the first Arab woman to make it to the All England Club's final eight.The world number 24, who was set down, won 5-7 6-1 6-1 against Swiatek, 2020 French Open champion.After the Belarusian beat Kazakh 18th seeds Elena Rybakina, Jabeur will next meet Aryna Sabalenka, second seed.Tunisian, whose win at the Birmingham Classic made her the first Arab woman ever to win a WTA championship title, followed her straight-set victory over Venus Williams last month with a spectacular comeback win over Garbine Muguruza on Friday to extend her winning streak at Wimbledon.After her nerves against Muguruza caused her to vomit at the back of court, before she served out the win. She later explained that this was due to stomach inflammation which can be affected nerves.She was able to overcome her difficulties on Monday, as she battled back to match her best Grand Slam performance.Swiatek came back from being 3-1 down in her first set, after she was broken in her opening game of service. She then responded with three consecutive games to win a high-quality encounter.Jabeur, the world number 24, broke impressively at start of second set. However, Swiatek, frustrated, hit the net with her tennis racquet and fell behind 2-0.As Jabeur conceded only one game to even the match, the Pole's position worsened.The Tunisian was not slowing down, and she produced yet another superb set of tennis. She won the last five games in a record time of 41 minutes.World number four Sabalenka beat Rybakina 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to set up her meeting against Jabeur and reach her Grand Slam quarterfinal.Karolina Muchova, a semi-finalist in the Australian Open, reached the eighth round with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win over Paula Badosa from Spain.Next, the 19th seed will face 2018 champion Angelique Kerber and Coco Gauff.
