San Francisco Giants' alternate City Connect uniforms feature Golden Gate Bridge, fog gradient

Monday's unveiling by the San Francisco Giants of their latest alternate jersey for the City Connect series was a success. It features an orange-and-white design with a silhouette from the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as a unique fog gradient across its sleeves, front and numbering.Mario Alioto, Giants executive vice president for business operations, stated that "We chose main focuses that really stood out about San Francisco." "The Golden Gate Bridge was one of them. It is well-known all over the globe. It is a sign of welcome to San Francisco. Mark Twain famously said that the winter in San Francisco is the coldest. Our city is unique because of the fog.The uniforms will be worn by the team for the first time Friday through Sunday against Washington Nationals as well as every home game Tuesday throughout the remainder of the season.@nikediamond pic.twitter.com/yeFl1Fqsi2 SFGiants (@SFGiants) July 5, 2021The Giants joins the Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins in having City Connect uniforms. The last City Connect uniform to be unveiled this season will be by the Los Angeles Dodgers in August.Although the Giants stated that they were open to considering different looks, they eventually settled on one that they felt was classic and modern. This design paid tribute to the uniforms worn by the Giants from Willie Mays' playing days to today.Gavin Werner, Giants director of retail/authentification, stated that when you think about San Francisco, the Giant orange is what comes to mind. "As we went through the design process, the one with the most strength leaned into that orange, and allowed that orange's representation on the headwear, sock, and some of the undershirts.Because of its obvious recognition among baseball fans and locals, the team chose to lean into "G" on Giants' logo. The team used the Golden Gate Bridge themes to design the hat. They extended the lettering to make it more like the towers and added the silhouette of the bridge to the side.Alioto stated, "This is something you might not see at first, but if we look at the journey around horizontal plane, you'll see one line of fog at the beginning." It's all at the same level because of the way fog interacts and interacts in the city and with the bridge. We wanted that to translate onto the jersey.Werner hopes that Tuesday home games for the Giants will be more popular than Friday's home games for the team's orange jerseys.Werner stated, "We tried to find the right balance between being uncomfortable and trying something different." "We're still keeping a traditional, foundational approach to what we do. We believe the orange does this. It strikes the right balance between a classic look and a new direction.
