Lakers Rumors: Latest on Dennis Schroder's Contract, David Fizdale, Scott Brooks

1 of 3Matt York/Associated PressThe Lakers traded Schroder with the Oklahoma City Thunder last offseason to acquire Schroder. The 27-year old could be leaving the team in less than a year.Schroder stated that he wants to play for the Lakers again next season. However, Schroder might be priced out of Los Angeles. According to Armin Andres (Vice President of German Basketball Federation), Schroder wants a contract worth $100 million or more."Dennis Schroder clearly communicated that he wants $100-, $120millionwhich he probably will also getand this sum insured cannot being insured on the normal marketplace at the moment," Andres stated on Abteilung Basketball podcast (h/t TalkBasketball.net).Los Angeles is already projected to exceed the salary cap so such a deal is unlikely to occur. Los Angeles tried unsuccessfully to lock Schroder up with a smaller contract during the season. The Lakers might be willing to let Schroder go."I have been told that the Lakers offered him $84 million over four year, and that he declined. He declined the extension. The Lakers then offered him in exchange for Kyle Lowry," Brian Windhorst, ESPN, said on the Hoop Collective podcast (h/t Brad Botkin, CBS Sports).Schroder could be eligible for a sign-and-trade, however it could prove difficult to find a team willing to accept a contract worth $100 million or more. Schroder is a skilled player but this past season he proved that he's not enough to lead a playoff-caliber team.
