Google boots nine apps from the Play Store for stealing Facebook passwords

After Doctor Web's research revealed that the apps were trojans, stealing Facebook passwords from users, Google removed nine apps form the Play Store. This includes Processing Photo and App Lock Keep, Rubbish Cleaner as well as Horoscope Daily and Horoscope Pi. Lockit Master, Lockit Master, Inwell Fitness and PIP Photo are also on the list. These apps were also banned by Google for violating their Play Store policies.Processing Photo was the most downloaded of the nine apps, with over 500,000 downloads. Each app tricked users into signing in to their Facebook accounts to enable them to block ads from within the app. The apps loaded the authentic Facebook login form into WebView. They then used a jаvascript code from the command server to highjack the login credentials. The jаvascript code would then transmit the password and login stolen to trojan apps.Doctor Web's researchers found that the apps had settings for stealing login credentials from Facebook accounts. However, the trojans could have been easily modified to load legitimate online services' web pages. An earlier modification of the apps was distributed to the top Android phones via the Google Play Store. It used EditorPhotoPip, an image editing app. The app was removed from the Play Store but is still available on other Android app aggregator sites. You should never install an app from a source other than the Play Store. No matter how popular an app is, you should always read user reviews before downloading it from the Play Store.
