Tesla has recently released a satisfying crash test video that details how the electric vehicle company tests its cars to improve upon safety. The video takes place at the "Tesla Crash Lab" in Fremont, California and shows a Tesla Model 3 going through a variety of simulations, from crashing into a wall to rotating in mid-air.
With each test, Tesla gives a glimpse at how its engineers make use of computer modeling to detect issues with a car even before a crash takes place. Once a crash does happen, though, the Model 3's special front passenger airbags can be seen in slow-motion action. The forward-thinking airbag design fully wraps around the passenger to keep them from recklessly moving around the cabin.
According to Tesla, as a result of its extensive testing, the Model 3 has "already earned a five-star safety rating in every category and sub-category from safety authorities on three continents (North America, Europe and Australia), and it has received top marks around the world for its advanced safety assistance features like Automatic Emergency Braking."
