Save imageToday, the Central Board of Second Education (CBSE), stated that it would rationalise the syllabus of classes 10 and 12, for the academic year 2021-22.CBSE informed that the decision was taken following the COVID-19 pandemic.The new policy will divide the academic session into two terms, each with a 50 percent syllabus.CBSE stated that experts will examine the interconnectivity between the subjects to determine if a systematic approach is taken. Each term will end with an exam on the basis the bifurcated syllabus.This is to increase the chance of passing the board-conducted classes I and II at the end of each academic session.In its circular, CBSE stated that it will make every effort to ensure that both the project work and the internal assessment are more credible.Schools can also use an alternative academic calendar, and inputs from NCERT to the curriculum, said CBSE.CBSE stated that the internal assessment would include three periodic tests, student enrichment and portfolio, as well as practical work/listening activities.The internal assessment for Classes 11-12 would include unit tests and exploratory activities/practical/projects.Schools have been given the responsibility of creating a student profile and storing these records electronically.CBSE will provide samples, question banks, and teacher training materials to ensure that internal assessments are credible and reliable.The CBSE informed the SC on June 17 that it would take into consideration the scores of students in Class 10, 11, and 12 to determine the final scoresheet for the 2021 Class 12 board exams.
