Traffic stop leads to deadly shooting by North Carolina sheriff's deputy

According to the sheriff's office, a deputy from the Sampson County Sheriffs Office shot a person and killed him during a traffic stop in Salemburg Sunday afternoon.The Sheriff's Office stated in a press release that a deputy pulled over a pickup truck at the intersection with Lakewood School Road on Laurel Lake Road just before 1:09 p.m. The reason why the deputy stopped it is not stated in the release.According to the news release, the deputy approached the truck and found that the person in the truck was armoured.The officer then fired his gun and fatally injured the man the news release called an armed suspect.According to the release, lifesaving measures failed and the victim died on the spot.The NC State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating.
