Hawks' Nate McMillan Says He Sees 'a Lot' of Paul George in Cam Reddish

AP Photo/Aaron GashNate McMillan, interim Atlanta Hawks head coach, praised Cam Reddish, small forward, on Saturday. He told reporters that he saw "a lot of Paul George” in Reddish after his team's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, 118-107. Atlanta lost four games to two in Eastern Conference Finals.Atlanta selected the former Duke Blue Devil as 10th overall in its 2019 NBA draft. He scored 21 points and made six three-pointers. The Hawks, which were trailing by 22 early in the fourth quarter, saw him help them cut their lead to six points.George was a seven-time All Star, six-time All NBA member, and four-time All Defensive Team player. He averaged 23.3 point, 6.6 rebound, 5.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per Los Angeles Clippers game this season.Reddish doesn't have to worry about defense. McClain Baxley, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, wrote that Reddish "quickly became a Hawks better defensive player with his size" this season. Reddish was sidelined for four months after suffering a right Achilles injury, which kept him out of the court until the Bucks series.Reddish's great defensive effort in Game 4 was not stopped by his efforts to slow down Bucks star forward Khris Midton, who shot only 10-of-22 from field.Cam came in tonight, and it was a great night for us.He is a long man and takes pride in protecting his teammates. He is one of few men in the league who actually enjoys playing. This is where he gets his energy. It's not the offensive side of the floor that he is interested in. He is eager to defend from the beginning.Reddish recorded six steals for the Hawks in four playoff games. His offensive game is still a work in process. Reddish averaged 11.2 point per game while shooting 36.5 percent. Reddish also missed just 26.2 percent on his three-pointers.Reddish, however, showed what he can do Saturday with his long-range efforts and was undoubtedly the best player on court. The Hawks will be watching him closely next year as he's an interesting player. After a great season, they look like they'll still be in the playoff picture.
