Astronauts at China's new space station conduct first spacewalk

China's space station was home to the first spacewalk of its astronauts Sunday. State media reported that this is as Beijing continues its extraterrestrial ambitions.This was the second time that astronauts from the country have been out of their spacecraft while in orbit.Three Chinese spacemen launched in June and docked at Tiangong station, where they will remain for three months on China's longest-ever crewed mission.Two of them left the core cabin on Sunday morning, according to state broadcaster CCTV.Liu Boming was the first to be transported by a mechanical arm to a job site. Tang Hongbo was moved by climbing outside the cabin.State media reported that their mission is to raise the panoramic camera from outside Tianhe's core module and verify the transferability of the robotic arms.China sends three astronauts to the new space stationTelevision footage captured astronauts getting ready for spacewalk. They were wearing gear, performing health checks, and exercising in the cabin.Later, the astronauts were shown opening the cabin door to exit the module. This was the first of two planned spacewalks that are expected to take place during the mission.China's first crewed flight in almost five years is an important moment for the country. This month, Beijing celebrates the 100th anniversary the ruling Communist Party.The crew received more than 6,000 hours training to prepare.The Chinese space agency plans to launch 11 missions through the end of next years, including three additional manned missions to deliver two laboratory modules that will expand the station's 70-tonne capacity, as well as supplies and crew members,Nie Haisheng is the mission commander, an air force pilot decorated by the Peoples Liberation Army and who has participated in two space missions, in addition to Liu Tang.
