Boring Company proposes Fort Lauderdale transit loop for trips to the beach

Elon Musk's Boring Company continues to try to sell cities using transit loops. It might have a substantial buyer. According to The Verge, the Boring Company submitted a bid to build a transit loop connecting the downtown and the beach. Mayor Dean Trantalis stated that the Las Olas Loop would be a "innovative, unprecented" solution to traffic congestion and transit needs. On July 6, the City Commission will vote on this proposal. It plans to create a process in which other companies can offer projects that are similar. The city stated that details will not be made public until the competition has ended. The Boring Company would be able to build its first East Coast tunnel if it wins the bid. In June, the Boring Company launched its only tunnel in Las Vegas. This would be a significant win. Musk's company has not had much success pitching cities for passenger loops and has instead shifted its focus to larger freight tunnels. Fort Lauderdale's contract would increase the credibility of the passenger system and could encourage other cities to look into tunnels, provided that they are useful.
