FaZe Clan is reeling from drama once more, and this time it might be lasting. Decrypt reports that FaZe has sanctioned four players for their alleged involvement with a pump and dump scheme involving the Save the Kids cryptocurrency program. Jarvis, Teeqo and Nikan were suspended by the eSports team and Kay has been permanently expelled from the group.Save the Kids, also known as KIDS, was a charity that would donate 1% of every transaction fee (3 percent of the total transaction), to a child-oriented foundation. FaZe influencers were hired by the creators to promote KIDS before its launch in June. However, the price plummeted almost 90 percent.Kay and the clan members who were affected have denied any involvement. Kay stated that he had no ill intent in promoting KIDS and that he made a mistake by participating in the effort without vetting it with the team.FaZe members have been accused of participating in frauds before. Kay and a clan co-founder were paid in May to promote BankSocial. However, the coin was sold shortly after Kay left the partnership. In tweets he deleted, Banks did not reveal the financial connection. This crackdown highlights how eSports players are making more money than just competitive gaming. Gucci, for example, purchased a Fnatic-badged divewatch. It's not surprising, given the celebrity status that players have quickly achieved in sports, but it opens them up to similar temptations.
