Stefon Diggs in Buffalo is a one-man act, and that's okay. Getty Images ImageStefon Diggs does not need a great No. To make Buffalo's offense shine, they don't need a great No. 2. Even though John Brown was out for nearly half the 2020 season, Diggs still managed to make a splash in his first year in Buffalo. He led the league with 127 receptions, 1530 yards, and set new career records in catch rate (76.5%) as well as receptions per games (7.9). Brown has officially left Buffalo and there should be no change.AdvertisementBrown was released by Bills after a year and a half playing the best football of his life. This opened up $8 million in cap space. Emmanuel Sanders will replace Brown. Sanders has proven that he can still provide valuable coaching and pass-catching assistance to young receivers. However, Sanders will not be able replace Brown. According to several reports, the Bills believe in Davis' young receiver and Sanders could even be able to take the role of Davis during the season, despite having signed a $6 million contract. It's all well and good, but what happens if Davis doesn't perform as the Bills hope? While Sanders could certainly step in, he will not be an outside threat that distracts from Diggs. Cole Beasley has 82 catches and 967 yards, but a slot receiver who only has one year of greatness after eight average seasons must prove more to me, as well as many other football fans. He could be out of games with COVID complications if he is not vaccinated. There is uncertainty surrounding Buffalo's No. Many Bills Mafia members have questioned whether the team should add another strong receiver to their ranks, someone better than John Brown.Zach Ertz is a name that has been used a few times.Sammy Watkins, a rumored signee with the Baltimore Ravens before he signed with them, was also rumored to be returning to Buffalo (although Watkins said it was unlikely). Although Odell Beckham Jr. rumors were never confirmed, many analysts and writers believed that OBJ would make a great addition to the team alongside Allen and Diggs. Would adding a wideout with a major name really benefit the Bills? It is unlikely. It might even be detrimental to the team long-term.Diggs stated that he wants to see a lot more attention for his passing offense. Star receivers were traded because Minnesota was too focused on running the football. Diggs could find himself sharing the spotlight with another strong receiver option if the Bills lose a few more games.AdvertisementDiggs is a remarkable talent. However, Josh Allen's meteoric rise to production in his first year in Buffalo can be largely attributed to Diggs. The Buffalo Bills have had three receivers with career-best seasons, Brown, Beasley and Diggs, with Josh Allen at the center. It used to be a place where receivers were destined to die. Now it seems like it is a place where they can thrive. Odell Beckham Jr., a receiver who could be very useful and see a tremendous career resurgence within Sean McDermotts' system, would also mean Diggs would receive fewer targets which would be something Diggs has expressed frustration with in the past.Diggs has proven to be a great receiver in Buffalo. Although Diggs's idea of grabbing another big threat to partner with him seems great, it could actually limit his impact. Although it may not seem like a problem, Diggs' old frustrations could bubble back up in 2022, which is highly likely given their two games against the Dolphins and matchups with Pittsburgh and Tennessee, Kansas City and New Orleans. This could lead to friction in the Buffalo locker rooms.AdvertisementDiggs is a great guy, but I think he should be the focus. His skill set is most suited to an offense where Diggs is the undisputed top choice. Maybe Zimmer hasn't used enough of his Minnesota star receiver. This is certainly a possibility. They should be fine as long as Buffalo does not follow Zimmer's footsteps. The offense of the teams is excellent as it is. Do not search for someone to share the spotlight with your top man.
