This story is still in development, but I felt it was important to warn you. A few readers have reported that they have transferred from Citi ThankYou points into Turkish Miles & Smiles, but the miles have not yet shown up on their Turkish side. Several readers had similar data points. They made a transfer nearly two weeks ago and Citi deducted the points. However, they never saw the points appear in their Turkish Miles & Smiles account. This is clearly very frustrating. It might be a good idea to wait to make a transfer until you see positive transfer data points and/or resolution. This email was sent to me about a week ago. I thought it was an isolated incident. Yesterday, I noticed another data point in Frequent Miler Insiders. I decided to make a request for more data points. One reader reported that he had made a successful transfer two weeks ago. However, others have reported initiating a transfer between 6/20 and 23 but it hasn't been received by the Turkish side. Citi claims that transfers can take up 14 days, and that disputes can't be filed before that time.Notably, a few people who are experiencing the problem have reported that they have done multiple transfers to Turkish without any issues in the past. This is not a case where people type in the wrong account number, or make other types of user-errors. One member of our Facebook group submitted a second transfer earlier in the week to check what would happen. The points have not yet posted on that transfer.Transfers from Citi to Turkish used to take between 18 and 36 hours in the past. This current timeframe definitely indicates a problem. I'm not sure what to think of the data point from a successful transfer two week ago, as all the data points from the past two months seem negative. We are working with a small sample and appreciate your feedback. Did you make a successful transfer to Turkish Miles & Smiles in the last two weeks? When was the transfer made? Which one?Normaly, I would not post until I received more data points that indicated a problem. But in this instance, I felt it was worth taking a quick note to avoid letting readers get into the same frustrating situation. If you are unable to afford to float your points for a while, I recommend that we wait to make any Turkish transfers until we have more positive data. This means that you don't need to book a flight of critical importance right away and/or have additional points or miles to use while you wait, you can still make a transfer. Please keep us informed with any data points. For those with enough points to make the booking, it may be better to wait. This data point has been limited to Turkish to Citi. Although I am not sure if Capital One transfers are having the same issue, I did initiate a small transfer from Capital One to test it out. If you have any relevant data about a transfer that occurred within the last two weeks, please let us know by commenting.
