Left: Kevin James in The Crew, Eric Leibowitz/Netflix; Right: Gabriel Iglesias and Mr. Iglesias (Kevin Estrada/Netflix).Although we have never been showrunners or stars in a low-rated TV comedy, it is something we would love to do. Our hypothetical creators are aware that the Killing Hour is when networks can drop a lot more shows than usual without receiving as much resistance.AdvertisementAll that to say, Netflix has canceled four of its single- or two-season comedies. Variety reports that Netflix had just canceled The Crew, Bonding and Mr. Iglesias. Your brain might have been unable to recall the Kevin James, Gabriel Iglesias, Katherine McPhee, or dominatrix comedy. Few things are more challenging than trying to remember every original Netflix offering. To be stronger, however, The Crew featured James as an older NASCAR driver who is mad at younger NASCAR drivers played by Jillian Mueller and Freddie Stroma. Bonding is, however, the exception to this group: A single-cam dark comedy within a sea of multicam sitcoms that centers on a professional dominatrix played by Zoe Levin. She hires a former high school friend (Brendan Scannell), as her assistant. It aired for two seasons. Two years later, there was Mr. Iglesias. It starred the uber-popular stand-up Gabriel Iglesias in the role of a high school teacher who worked alongside Sherri Shepherd and Jacob Vargas. Finally, Country Comfort. Although it would be very limiting to call it The Nanny if set in a red state then McPhee portrays a country singer who is kicked out by her boyfriend. She then becomes the nanny of a bunch rowdy children under false pretenses.Netflix has been in a lot of cancellation mode lately. The streamer recently ended its relationship with Mark Millars Jupiters legacy and also cut ties with Jamie Foxxs Dad Stop Embarking Me. This comedy would have fitted right in with tonight's bloody kills. However, these cancellations do not seem to involve ending existing relationships between Netflix and its stars. James and Iglesias have agreements in place for future Netflix projects (a new single-cam series, and a comedy special respectively), as well as Bonding creator Rightor Doyle.
