Todd Frazier, Edwin Jackson Headline USA Baseball Team Roster for 2021 Tokyo Olympics

It includes several former Major League players.Third baseman Todd Frazier, as well as pitchers Edwin Jackson and Scott Kazmir, are some of the most prominent names on the team.The USA won the Americas Qualifier 4-2 over Venezuela to qualify them for the Olympics.Team USA is primarily made up of veterans free agents and minor leaguers. Frazier was part the former group, before he signed with Sussex County Miners of Frontier League last month.From 2011-21, Frazier, 35, was a MLB player with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox. He also played 11 seasons with New York Yankees, New York Mets and Texas Rangers.The two-time All-Star slugger hit.241 in 1,244 regular-season game with 218 home runs, and 640 RBI. His most memorable season was 2016 with the White Sox, when he hit career highs of 40 home runs as well as 98 RBI.Frazier appeared in 13 games earlier this season for the Pirates, hitting just.086 with four RBI.Jackson, 37 years old, is a free agent and is most well-known for his nomadic MLB career which saw him play for a record number of 14 teams between 2003-19.Jackson was a part of 412 games and 318 starts for the Los Angeles Dodgers.He was 107-133 with a 4.78 ERA. He earned an All-Star nod from the Tigers in 2009. He also threw a no-hitter in 2010 for the Diamondbacks and won a World Series title with the Cardinals.After playing for seven teams in 13 Major League seasons, Kazmir, 37, is now a minor leaguer with the San Francisco Giants.Kazmir was an All-Star twice, once with the Rays and once in 2014 with the A's. Kazmir also pitched for the Los Angeles Angels', Cleveland, Houston Astros, Dodgers, Giants, and Dodgers.After not pitching in the majors since 2016, the lefty is 108-97 and has a 4.02 ERA. He appeared in three games earlier in the season for the Giants.After a stellar MLB career as a reliever, Robertson is the most qualified candidate for Team USA's closer.Robertson, now a free agent from the MLB, spent 12 seasons with the Yankees and White Sox, as well as the Philadelphia Phillies, between 2008-19.Robertson was an All Star with the Yankees in 20011 with a 1.08 ERA as a set man. He also had 110 saves during a three-season span with the Yanks (White Sox) between 2014-16.He led the Yankees' 2009 World Series win and was a remarkable 11th in American League Cy Young voting.Robertson's overall record is 53-33, with a 2.90 ERA (and 137 saves) as an MLB player.The Team USA roster also includes Tyler Austin, a former Yankees outfielder and outfielder, and Anthony Gose, a former Blue Jays outfielder and pitcher. Shane Baz is a 22-year old Rays pitching prospect who has compiled a 2.12 ERA. He has struck out 69 batters over 46.2 innings in 10 minor-league games this season.Mike Scioscia manages Team USA. He managed the Angels between 2000-18, going 1,650-1.428 and winning in 2002.After being excluded from the 2012 and 2016 Olympic programs, baseball is back in the Olympic program this year. Team USA won bronze at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing over Japan.Five times has baseball been played at the Olympics. The United States has three gold medals, the second-most overall, but its only gold was won in 2000.The first match of Team USA against Israel at the Tokyo Olympics will take place on July 30, 2012.
