Diarrhea incident continues to spell problems for Ultimate Slip 'N Slide

That's a big deal considering the show has already suffered from a public outbreak of diarrhea on set. So it is. The NBC reality series, ostensibly a summer romp in which comedians Bobby Moynihan & Ron Funches make jokes as people slide down waterslides into water that's not parasitically infested, continues to struggle to produce a final episode. Even though its release date for August's Olympic Games is getting closer, it will still be available.AdvertisementWe reported that the problems at Slip N Slide started in June when several members of the show crew began experiencing what was described as explosive diarrhea. This was eventually linked to an intestinal parasite called giardia. According to Yahoo! Yahoo! Entertainment reports that the outbreak, which infected approximately 65 percent of show staff, occurred as the show was about to finish its final episode. Slip N Slide appears to have been created to build to a climax over eight weeks of filming. The final episode will see contestants battling it out on slides for a large cash prize. It is unlikely that even a Ron Funches tweet about the situation will be enough to take away the pain of a reality show worth $18 million with an unfilmable ending. The Wrap reports that the environmental study on the show set revealed that giardia was not present in the water, but was found in the dirt around the giant slide. This means that it is very easy for the pool or dust to become infected again by parasites from people's feet, or just by dust particles that have been created by activity. The set cost $6 million to build and only one episode is left to film, so moving it all seems unlikely. The second season is being planned at a new location. The Wrap also notes that producers from the show will present NBC two approaches to ending the series. We'll have to wait to see if they choose the first selection or if they give in to the unavoidable power of number 2.
