According to Dave Roberts, the manager of Los Angeles Dodgers, Trevor Bauer is still expected to make his next scheduled start on Sunday despite being embroiled in controversy following sexual assault allegations against him. If nothing changes in the next three days, that start will be in Washington, D.C., which is the nation's capital.Roberts stated that the commissioner's office, Major League Baseball is handling the matter. He also said that Bauer was with the team as he prepares to play at Nationals Park. "It's in the hands of their right now, but right now, we were able to move forward without involving Trevor or the player. So, our plan is that he will start on Sunday."A woman has accused Bauer of choking her to death, punching her in the body, and leaving her with injuries that required her hospitalization. The allegations were made in a domestic violence restraining or, which was filed in L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday. ESPN obtained copies of the order. The court was asked to issue a no contact order prohibiting Bauer from coming within 100 feet of her. However, the woman, a 27 year-old San Diego resident, gave detailed details about her sexual encounters with Bauer. She also provided photographs showing her two black eyes and scratched lips. The local police are investigating the alleged incidents that took place at Bauer’s Pasadena home on April 21st and May 16th.Temporary ex parte was the type of restraining order that can be obtained without input from either party. According to Bauer's representatives, he plans to deny the account at a hearing set for July 23. These representatives made a statement on Tuesday denying Bauer's assault of the woman and calling the encounters "wholly consentsual." They sent a series text messages the next day that showed the woman inviting rough sex, and discussing how she wants him "gimme all of the pain" to "choke me."Sources told ESPN that MLB has launched an investigation into Bauer as part of its joint domestic violence policy. MLB could place Bauer on a seven-day paid administrative leave while it investigates the allegations. However, since no arrests have been made, and Bauer has denied the allegations, the league will wait to see if the internal or police investigations are completed before taking any action.Roberts stated that he had spoken with Bauer since the details of the alleged assault were made public by The Athletic, but didn't divulge any details about their conversation. Roberts was asked if it bothers him that Bauer would begin on Sunday, given the events that have occurred. Roberts replied that it is "out of our control." It doesn't matter what direction the organization chooses, it's something that has to happen. And so it's out all of our hands. The Dodgers will begin a four-game series against the Nationals on Thursday night. Prior to Friday's game, the team will visit the White House to celebrate its World Series win last year.Bauer signed a $102 million, three-year contract with the Dodgers. It also includes two options for players. This was three months after he won the 2020 National League Cy Young Award while playing for the Cincinnati Reds. With a salary of $40million in 2021, he is the highest-paid player in baseball. While the Dodgers await investigations by MLB and City of Pasadena Police Departments, they have the option to skip Bauer's turn and not cause any major distractions for the team.Roberts answered the question about how close he was to making that decision. They recommended that we use the Sunday starter, and then move on to having him start the Sunday game. It was impossible for me to try and read more than what they advised us. I chose to follow their lead.
