Passive cooling will be integrated into the taller bulb to help manage the LED's higher heat.Philips has been holding an event towards the end of the summer for the past few years to announce its next generation of compatible smart lighting. Signify, which is owned by Philips, produces everything from smart bulbs and LED strip lights to ambiance bulbs for lamps and vintage-looking filament bulbs. The standard Hue color bulbs have a maximum lumen output of 806 lumens. This is sufficient for a dimly lit living room but may limit those with more stringent lighting requirements. Comparatively, smart lights made by Lifx and other brands can reach around 1017 lumens. The difference in brightness between smart bulbs from Philips and Lifx was evident when I used them in my living room.Philips Hue could also expand its filament selection. The Standard, Edison, Globe shapes may be available in the same color spectrum with White Ambient lights. This will allow for warm and cool LEDs instead of the traditional one-note. European countries may also receive an update to Philip Hue's E14 bulb, which is the smallest Philip Hues bulb.Philips Hue produces some of the most advanced smart bulbs for smart homes. They are not always the brightest. Brands like Yeelight or Lifx have higher lumens. This can prove frustrating to some users, who have already noticed the relative high cost of the Hue lights in comparison to other brands. The starter kit costs $70 or $130 for two lights, the hub and each additional lightbulb, which is approximately $50. Lifx bulbs cost about the same as individual Lifx bulbs, but Yeelight Smart LEDs are half the price and offer the same brightness and smart connectivity.AdvertisementThe Philips Hue's main selling point is its wide range of bulbs that are available within the connected ecosystem.
