Nike brings hands-free entry shoes to the Olympics with the Glide FlyEase

Despite local opposition, the Olympics will be back in Japan this summer. Athletes will find themselves in the lightest and most comfortable gear to help them achieve record-breaking performances. Nike has revealed some apparel that the US team will be wearing, including Rawdacious-themed track spikes with carbon fibre plates. But you might want to pay attention to outfits reserved for medalists.Nike is highlighting sustainability with jackets and pants made of 100 percent recycled material. The footwear that comes with it is also made partly from recycled materials. Nike's FlyEase technology is featured on this years medal stand. This allows for quick entry and provides comfortable athletic shoes for people who may not be able or able to wear other shoes. The Glide FlyEase looks similar to the Go FlyEase model Nike launched earlier in the year. Nike claims that the Glide FlyEase does not have a hinge. Instead, it has a flexible heel. Although we have not seen the shoe in action, it appears that you can simply slip into the shoe and it will snap back into place. An elastic cord wraps around the foot to provide a snug fit.Although the Go FlyEase release received glowing reviews, Nike was criticized for not making enough to make it easy for those who needed the shoes to purchase them. The Glide FlyEase will be another example of accessible sportswear. It will let people know that they exist. However, it can only make an impact if they are actually available. Nike says there will be more opportunities for the $120 FlyEaseGo, and The Verge is told that the Glide FlyEase will be available at a later time.
