However, the winner could still be in dispute.Antwan Owens, Jackson State's defensive end, signed a sponsorship agreement with 3 Kings Grooming. Ross Dellenger, Sports Illustrated reports that Owens signed with 3 Kings Grooming to represent the Black-owned hair products company.Owens said to Dellenger, "Somebody pinch me!" This is something that will change the course of your life, and it will also impact your generation.It is not clear how much Owens will make from the deal.On Wednesday, college athletes advertised on social media for future events and offered their services.While it may be fun to argue about which player signed the first deal, the bigger goal of athletes finally being able to make a profit from their names, likeness, and image is a win for college stars everywhere.Owens is one example, but he won't be the last.
