It is now possible to see how much data each individual DSM package uses, identify any issues with drives in the storage pool and enjoy welcome improvements to SSD caching.Synology Photos, a new addition to the Moments and Photo Station services, is now the default photo management package on DSM. It uses AI to automatically categorize and sort images into albums. This service also allows you to seamlessly back up photos from all your phones to your NAS.Active Insight allows you to control all Synology NAS enclosures that are registered under one account. This is great for remote management. Synology Drive will soon have an admin console to monitor file transfers and usage trends. The new SSD Cache Advisor was added to monitor I/O and give more precise capacity recommendations. To improve the speed of accessing small files, and reduce the time it takes to access files frequently, we added the ability to pin all Btrfs metadata into SSD caches. The ability to activate automatic protection for SSD read-write caches that have multi-drive fault tolerance has been added. The quick write-back feature was added to support SSD caches and HDDs. After the switch, there is no way to go back to DSM 6.2. So make sure you are ready to jump. You will need to ensure that your NAS has DSM 7.0 installed. To check if your NAS has DSM 6.2 or higher, go to Control Panel > Update & Repair and download any updates.DSM 7.0 is being released as a stable version, so it should be available for your NAS as an OTA upgrade. You can also manually install the stable version of DSM 7.0 if it's not yet available for your enclosure. Here are the steps to install stable DSM 7.0 on your NAS.To download the DSM 7.0 package, visit the Synology Download Center. Select NAS from the Select product type menu. Scroll down to find your NAS model number. All the OS packages should be visible for your NAS. You will need to change the OS Version (located on the right side of the page) to see the DSM7.0 build.
