According to DigiTimes, Apple will announce its new 14-inch and 16 inch MacBook Pros with mini-LED displays and a faster Apple silicon CPU in September. This is after months of speculation and rumors.
The paywalled report revealed that Apple intends to make a substantial investment in mini-LED production. Apple will unveil its new MacBook Pros in late third quarter. Apple typically holds product announcements for the third quarter from July to September. This is in contrast to its annual iPhone event which takes place in September.
Mark Gurman, Bloomberg's Bloomberg reporter, recently stated that Apple will not announce any major product or announcements for the next few weeks until its fall launch. This would confirm DigiTimes' claim that a third-quarter launch will be held in September.
DigiTimes reports that the new MacBook Pro models, both 14-inch and 16, will reach their peak in October. Given that mini-LED display suppliers are still in short supply, the possibility of an announcement in September is even more likely due to October's peak shipment. Apple could announce the new MacBook Pros at an event in September, but it may not begin shipping the device until the following month, as was the case with the M1-powered iPad Pro Launch.
The most significant redesign to the MacBook Pro line in recent years will be seen on the new MacBook Pros. Expect the new MacBook Pros to have a flat-edged design with more ports including HDMI and an SD card slot reader. They will also feature a faster version of the M1 Apple silicon chips and brighter displays due to the addition of mini-LED technology.
