After a successful 35-minute flight between international airports in Nitra, Bratislava and Bratislava, a prototype flying car is now closer to production.AirCar, a dual-mode, patent-protected car-aircraft from Slovenian startup Klein Visions, successfully landed its 142nd successful landing at Bratislava. It was transformed into a sports car in three minutes. Professor Stefan Klein, its co-founder, drove it to downtown Bratislava. This reduced travel time by two.AirCar Prototype 1 features a 160HP BMW engine and fixed-propeller. It also has a ballistic parachutist. The AirCar was tested under the supervision of Civil Aviation Authority. It flew over 40 hours, including 45-degree turns, stability and maneuverability testing, and has been inspected by Civil Aviation Authority. AirCar Prototype 1 flew at 8200 feet and reached a maximum speed of 190 km/h (103kt).AirCar Prototype 2 will be the pre-production model. It will have a 300HP engine. The Prototype 2 will have a cruise speed at 300 km/h (162kt) as well as a range of 1000 km (621mi) thanks to its variable pitch propeller.Professor Stefan Klein is the global leader in the design and development of user-friendly Flying Cars. Dr. Branko Sarrah, Senior Technical Fellow at Boeing, said. He said that the automated conversion from a road vehicle to an air vehicle, and vice versa, retracting/deploying wings, and tail retrieval, is not just the result of innovative spirit, courage, and pioneering spirit, but also a result of engineering excellence and professional knowledge.Anton Zajac (Co-founder of Klein Vision) said: This flight begins a new era in dual transportation vehicles. After exiting the AirCar cockpit at Bratislava, Professor Klein said: This flight opens up a new category in transportation and gives back the freedom that was once attributed to cars. AirCar is more than a proof-of-concept. It can fly at an incredible 8,200ft and at 100kt speed, making science fiction a reality.
