Cruise sector returns to Saint Lucia

Saint Lucia welcomed the first cruise ship since the Covid-19 pandemic earlier. It was greeted with joy and fanfare.Celebrity Millennium arrived at Pointe Seraphine with 414 passengers at 7:40 to the sounds steel pan music, and a masquerade representing a mini-carnival.Plaques commemorating the resumption cruise services to the island were exchanged by Allen Chastanet (prime minister), Dominic Fedee (tourism minister), and Theodoros Zakkas (capitol of Celebrity Millennium) who each exchanged plaques.Three Saint Lucian nationals who worked with Celebrity Millennium expressed their joy at being back home, and returning to their jobs on the cruise ships.ADVERTISEMENTWe are proud to announce the resumption cruise service. This is a sign of our incredible partnership with the cruise industry.Fedee said that welcoming the first cruise ship to Port Castries this summer speaks volumes about our future.Lucky passengers received gifts, including Saint Lucia souvenirs, upon their arrival.Many accommodation providers, including Cap Maison, Bay Gardens Resorts and Coco Palm, Fond Doux, Justin Apartments, gifted guests with return stays packages.Cruise guests received a complete set of health protocols in a newly constructed facility at Pointe Seraphine.As part of Saint Lucia's recent protocol update, fully vaccinated adults were given white wristbands. They were invited to have more access to the island.8.386 people in Saint Lucia were reemployed within the tourism sector, including 135 tour guides and 1,500 taxi drivers.There were 115 vendors available to welcome cruise passengers.
