She lost in two sets to Alize Cornet. The 2019 U.S. Open champion is without a win in any of the three majors. She was also thrown in the first round at the French Open.In 2020, Kenin also had some difficulties. In the second round of a major, she was eliminated for the second time. Madison Brengle, a fellow American, knocked her out in straight sets.The fourth-seeded American, who reached two major finals and won one of them in 2020, did not make it past the fourth round at Grand Slam this season.Kaja Juvan defeated Bencic in two sets. In 2021, she has not reached the third round of a Grand Slam event.Coco Gauff is now the highest-seeded female in this section of the draw after Bencic's death. Serena Williams was also in this section, but she retired Tuesday due to injury.Only one section of the eight women's draws has all four seeds alive.
