On Tuesday, Rep. Mike Johnson, R.-La., stated that he was confident that Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett would assist Republicans in their long-awaited effort to repeal Roe v. Wade.Barrett's October 2020 confirmation to the Supreme Court solidified the conservative majority at the nation's highest court. She is a strong believer in an original interpretation of the Constitution. This is a lot like late Justice Antonin Scalia.Johnson has been a long-time supporter of Barrett. He's known her for over 30 years and has voiced his support for Barrett's nomination to the Supreme Court for 2020. Since high school, I have known Amy Coney Barrett. Johnson said to the attendees that we go back a long way. I was also one of the men who pushed Trump to get on the court.Johnson said that if you view [Roe] through the originalist perspective which all [the conservative Justices] now support, it is indefensible. Johnson has been vice chair of House Republican Conference since 2016, the GOP caucus responsible to communicating the party's message to the House. It goes back to the States, and then there is a real the real fight, because states such as Louisiana have it in their state constitutions that, if the decision goes to the states they will be a 100 percent prolife state.Johnson predicted that post-Roe America would see a split between pro-abortion and anti-abortion countries. You can also guess, however, which states they are. Perhaps your friends are watching. They are going to do the opposite, and have full-on abortion-on-demand. You'll have a split in the country. There will be pro-life and anti-death states. I believe people will follow the path of life, which is what I am optimistic about.Pro-choice advocates are not surprised by Johnson's statements. We are disturbed by Rep. Johnson's recent statements about an impending plan to repeal Roe v. Wade, but we are not surprised," Christian F. Nunes (president of the National Organization for Women) said in a statement. His colleagues and he believe they have the right of control over what women do with their bodies. However, our grassroots activists will vigorously resist any attempt to limit reproductive freedom through outdated and dangerous legislation and regulations.Johnson also spoke out about Barrett's comments and the need to have grassroots Republican efforts that are competitive with Democrats. They had been doing community organizing for quite some time and it was extremely effective. They were able to raise a whole generation, which was then indoctrinated into the public schools and all that follows. That's what we were competing against. He said that we must be able communicate these truths in simple language. We are still a centre-right country. Although we may not all be wearing sweater vests with Santorum, we are able to continue fighting.Windsor asked Johnson to list the top three priorities if Republicans won back the House. Johnson pointed out the conference task force that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy created on Wednesday. They are charged with crafting policy regarding issues such as Big Tech censorship and the future of American freedoms and health care.Windsor laughed and said it sounds like you're dodging.Johnson replied, "I'm not avoiding," Johnson said, but he didn't want to go before my leader and tell him what they were." Johnson also identified inflation, abortion, and immigration as the most pressing issues in people's hearts. He said that these are American issues.Johnson's spokesperson declined to comment on the remarks of the representative.
