Santiago/Getty Images Adams campaign files lawsuit in wake of elections board fiascoEric Adams' mayoral campaign filed a preliminary suit just days after the Board of Elections published incorrect results for the first round of ranked-choice voting."Today we petitioned to the court to preserve the right to fair elections and to have a judge review and oversee ballots, if required," the campaign stated in a Wednesday statement. We are notifying other campaigns by personal service of our lawsuit, as required under law, because they're interested parties. As we seek to reach a fair and transparent conclusion to this election, we invite all other campaigns to join us in petitioning the court. On Tuesday, the erroneous results were posted and have added uncertainty to the electoral process. This comes on the heels New York's first-ever citywide, ranked choice primary. After including 135,000 mock ballots in a pre-election run of the ranked choice tabulation software, the elections board will release new results Wednesday. These preliminary results won't be finalized as approximately 124,000 absentee votes will not be counted before next week.
