Apple today announced that it has signed a deal to adapt Garth Risk Hallberg’s bestseller "City on Fire" into a series. The show will air eight episodes on Apple TV+.The mystery series features a New York University student being shot in Central Park on Fourth of July. There are no witnesses or physical evidence.In "City on Fire", a NYU student is killed in Central Park on July 4, 2003. Samantha Cicciaro is the only witness. There are very few physical evidence and no witnesses. She leaves her favorite downtown bar to see her friends, but she promises to return. She never returns. Samantha's crime is being investigated and she is revealed to be the key link between a series enigmatic citywide fires, downtown music scene, a wealthy uptown family of real estate agents, and the stress of all the secrets they keep.Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Stephanie Savage are creating the show. They will also be showrunners and executive producer. Schwartz and Savage have created shows such as "Gossip Girl", "Nancy Drew", "The Astronaut Wives Club," and "Dynasty." They previously signed a first-look deal with Apple.
