This was announced by Adam Mosseri on Wednesday.AdvertisementTikTok, YouTube, and other platforms that feature influencer-driven content have experienced huge success. They are now serious contenders to Instagram. Mosseri responded by saying that Instagram plans to experiment with recommending full-screen videos to users in its feeds, even those they don't already follow.Mosseri stated in a Wednesday video that we will also be exploring how to embrace video more broadly, full screen, immersive and entertaining on mobile. Over the next months, you'll see us try a lot of things or do a lot of experiments in this area.He added that there was no longer an app for photo-sharing or square photo-sharing.These types of changes have been in the works for Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, for months. Instagram launched Reels in August 2020. This feature allows users to create short-form videos with audio overlays similar to TikTok.This announcement regarding prioritizing video follows hints by Instagram employees that a special subscribers-only feature could be developed. The content, known as Exclusive Stories, would only be made available to subscribers of a specific creator and would not be accessible for anyone else to view or take screenshots.Mosseri stated that people are using Instagram to entertain themselves, even though there is a lot of competition. That is why we must embrace it, and that is why we need to make changes.
