Novak Djokovic extends Wimbledon win streak to 16 matches

Novak Djokovic won the 2018 Wimbledon final in straight sets.To reach the third round, Kevin Anderson was defeated 6-3,6-3,6-3 by the top-ranked player.Djokovic did not face a break point and made six unforced errors. One of these was with his forehand. Djokovic broke for 5-3 with a forehand win before converting his second matchpoint when Anderson sent a long shot.This was the 16th consecutive match win for Wimbledon's two-time defending champion.The third day of the tournament saw footing still a problem. Djokovic was seen sprawling numerous times. Djokovic mumbled in frustration after a single spill.Former player and board member of All England Lawn Tennis Club Tim Henman said that Wimbledon's courts are "as good as ever."Djokovic also mentioned the lack of grass-court play as the reason for the poor footing.Djokovic stated that despite not playing on grass courts in two years, and coming from clay courts that are completely different in terms movement and bounce, Djokovic believes that he is still adapting his movement to this new surface. He is currently 4-0 in Wimbledon five-set matches.Queen's Club champion Matteo Berrettini defeated Guido Pella, 6-4 and 3-6 in the first round to remain unbeaten on grass. The hard-serving Berrettini won the match with 20 aces, beating Guido Pella. He also won with a running forehand passing stroke.The seventh seeded Italian became the first to win Queen's since Boris Becker (1985) and is considered an outsider at this year's Wimbledon. He reached the semifinals of the 2019 US Open after a quarterfinal run in the French Open, where Djokovic defeated him.Berrettini, however, has never advanced past the round 16 at the All England Club.Kei Nishikori, a former US Open runner up, also advanced. He defeated Alexei Popyrin, 6-4 and 6-4 to win his 100th Grand Slam match.After Pablo Andujar, his second round opponent, pulled out due to a rib injury before their match, Denis Shapovalov made it through to the third round.
