Tencent taps Blizzard veterans to make 'the next great PC RTS'

One studio has been added to Tencent's vast games empire. Uncapped Games, a new studio in Los Angeles that is led by Jason Hughes and David Kim, are Blizzard veterans. Hughes, who previously worked on Diablo III & IV, is the studio's lead producer. Kim is its lead designer. She previously worked on StarCraft 2 & Diablo IV.Kim says that the new studios will focus on real-time strategy games (RTS), with a focus to create the next great PC RTS. The RTS genre has been popular throughout the years but is still dominated by 90s games like StarCraft and Age of Empires. It would not be a bad thing to add a new entry to this genre.Since almost a decade, my goal has been to make the next great PC RTS.Kim said that my goal of creating the next great PC RTS was achieved almost a decade ago. Lightspeed and Quantum gives us an amazing chance to do so. Our first step towards achieving this goal is to put together a great team of developers with lots of experience, and be supported by people who believe in RTS as strongly as we do.Uncapped Games is now part of a large number of studios that Tencent Games has. Uncapped is under the Quantum Studios Group and Lightspeed. This group, best known for developing PUBG Mobile, includes the studios Quantum and Anyplay as well as Lightspeed LA and Lightspeed LA. Lightspeed and Quantum Studios are just one of four game studios that Tencent Games has, along with TiMi Studios (developers of Call of Duty: Mobile), Aurora Studio and Morefun Studio.
