Dad, kids found shot dead in blazing home after missing custody hearing, PA cops say

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a 13-year old girl and a 10-year-old boy were found burned alive in their home after their father shot at them.State police stated that Richard Zimmer, 48, the father of the victim, also shot himself in Erie County.After Zimmer failed to appear at a custody hearing on Tuesday, concerned family members went to Greene Township's home around 2:45 p.m. The Kuhl Hose Fire Department was called to put out the flames after they discovered heavy smoke coming from their home, according to state police.The bodies of the father and the children were discovered by first responders in different rooms of the home. The identities of the children were not revealed.Investigators believe Zimmer killed the girl and boy with a shotgun that he owned. According to state police, he then set off multiple fires inside the house before shooting himself.WJET was told by a trooper from Pennsylvania State Police that the incident occurred overnight, on Monday and Tuesday.According to the Erie Times-News, there was no significant fire damage at the home.
