Lakers Rumors: Dennis Schroder Expecting $100-$120M Contract in Free Agency

The 42-30 Lakers lost to the Phoenix Suns six times in the first round, with 15.4 points, 43.7 percent shooting and 5.8 assists.For a significant portion of the season, the Lakers were without LeBron James or Anthony Davis. AD played only 25 minutes in the playoff games.Schroder was unable to score in the playoffs, scoring just eight points in Game 4, and zero in Game 5. Although he dropped 20 points in Game 6, 16 of those were in the second half, which began with Phoenix leading 62-43.Schroder's season is over and Schroder won't be able to land a nine-figure contract. However, he has impressed in his two previous campaigns.Schroder, a sixth-man for the 2019-20 Thunder dropped 18.9 points per match despite having to undergo a major teardown and roster rebuild.After James' high ankle sprain, he also assisted in the offense. He averaged 16.8 points per game and 7.9 assists between March 21 and April 30.Schroder was the 17th overall selection in the 2013 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta traded Schroder to Oklahoma City in the 2018 offseason. This was one year after signing Schroder to a $70 million, four-year deal.The Schroder and Lakers were reportedly in extended talks. However, Jovan Buha of The Athletic and Bill Oram from The Athletic reported that they were "far apart" with the guard seeking a multiyear extension that would pay more than $20 million annually.
